Liked today’s Ramble and hearing about the word tsundoku which was new to me.
Small changes I’m, since I finished just now listening to the Ramble, sitting pondering a bit as currently I’m recovering from a bad accident so small changes (often, but not always, improvements) are happening regularly by the way it’s going.
However what I want to bring in, is more being kind to myself and more regular small bits of self care. Today I was lucky and had a wonderful aromatherapy massage and she did my head, unusually. I feel that’s made a big difference to the rest of my day.
Can’t have that every day however I have a wee self care kit from this therapist which was given to me by friends who know I go there. The therapist was today advising me to watch and try a couple of things from it. So that’s my plan for this week.
So a ponder and a bit of phone tapping has thankfully got me to a plan in the end. Thank you Suzanne.
I love American historically set fiction at the moment- I binge watched 'The English' on Iplayer which really resonated with 'The Giver is Stars' by Jojo Moyes I devoured not long after....'The Four Winds' by Kristin Hannah......tend to have feisty femaleh characters too...can't think why I am drawn to these books??......'Wish you were here' by Jodie Picoult was good too/I didn't want to read or enjoy it but I did both begrudgingly. I like the escapism these have provided recently. Although I also LOVED 'The Midnight Library' by Matt Haig and am one chapter into 'I know this much is true' by Wally Lamb...which aren't as easy going/are more thought provoking. Have you been to the Book Farm at Astley/N Warks Suzanne??? Lovely place. My pocket of joy will be choir tomorrow, and hopefully the Lamb book...and finishing a brilliant Iplayer series on Northern Ireland!!!
Catching up on this ramble after the first proper night's sleep I have had in a week..blissful!
I do all my reading on kindle/audible now so no piles of books round my bed anymore. Reading Lessons in chemistry by Bonnie Garmisch-Partenkirchen which is great, funny and touching and I learnt some chemistry too.
My Mum was a huge lover of books and a published children's author. She amassed a collection of over 4000 books. Since she died I have been gradually donating them to community libraries, schools and home Ed groups in our area. It gives me joy to know they will be enjoyed and I am sure Mum would approve.
I plan to have my coffee in the garden (weather permitting) as my small change.
Love it ' books 📚 for bricks ' that's my house 🏠 too, totally have tsundoku ( if that's how you spell it)🤔
So glad your reading again , I need to find my reading mojo again ,my mind just hasn't been calm enough recently....so maybe if I commit to 10 minutes a day I can get going again.
My intentions this week are to push out of my 'safe zones' get out with the girls (already been to the cinema on Monday and a small wildlife park Tuesday....catching up on rambles) Me and jess starting some root cause therapy on Saturday !
